             Cultural diversity



















Dear Students,

We have had a great day and wonderful discussions on the topic of Culture and Cultural diversity. Hence, I would like us to share some more ideas and to expand our knowledge of this particular issue. Therefore, I do want to share with you a really interesting presentation:


Please, watch this video and post your viewpoints towards the topic itself, and the ideas expressed by the presenter. In addition to this, please post your comments to at least 2 different viewpoints shared by your colleagues. Feel free to ask questions, give examples, share pictures and videos. Let's make our virtual discussion exciting and appealing! :)

What’s so different about cultures anyway?

1.   TED… what do the letters stand for? Why do you think the speaker mentions it?
2.   Different? / Same? / Both? – what is the meaning of these questions and what is the answer provided by the presenter?
3.   “All people are the same; it’s only their habits that are different.” (Confucius) – Share your ideas on this quote, please and its connection with the presentation.
4.   Are people different? If yes, what shows that we are different?
5.   What was said about Georgia and the issue of “being late”? How is this example related to “cultural differences”? If you thought about Belarusian context, what would be the excuse of a Belarusian person? J
6.   Human values – are they really universal? Could you give your examples based on the one given by the presenter?
7.   America – Canada – Mexico example. How do you like it? What was the Georgian context? What would a Belarusian say in this situation? J
8.   Allowed / Prohibited – how is this related to cultural diversity? What is the situation like in Belarus when thinking over this issue?
9.   Differences are related to hatred. How can this be?
10.             Hate, Forgive, Thank You for … - what is the main idea of this presentation?

My dear students,

Welcome to our English summer school blog. We will spend time here to practice different language skills, and to enjoy the spirit of creativity and collaboration. You will find here a bunch of different activities, which will make you grow as writers, researchers, artists and language users. :) 

The purpose of this blog is to give you opportunities to learn the language in a different way, i.e. discuss, share ideas and final results, express your viewpoints and give feedback on various assignments.
